Maybe your idea of aquarium bliss is a large saltwater setup. Or maybe you just want a little freshwater tank for the kids—or for your desk at the office. Whatever you are looking for, there’s a site that probably offers that—plus half a dozen things you never thought of. All at great prices.

There are pages and pages of fish tanks, aquarium kits, testing supplies, tank stands, fish food, and accessories. Plus there are pages of things for cats, more pages for dogs, rabbits, horses, and any pet you can think of. At Beyond.com here are even hamster cages for cheap.

Of course, they also list a huge variety of items in other categories, such as home furnishings, gifts, clothing, appliances, games, and tools. Whatever you are looking for, the selection is huge, and there are lots of vendors to choose from.

I think the complete aquarium kits are a great way to get started. Just order one, have it delivered, and follow instructions. You know the filters and accessories will fit the tank. There is no need to rush around town trying to put together a reasonable setup, and you know beforehand what it all will cost.

Some of the new aquarium styles are so gorgeous that you will be tempted to buy more than one. The complete kits make great gifts for kids, too. Shopping on line is a great way to find unusual items that you might not run across in local stores.

Meanwhile you could pick up items needed for other pets in the family, like that new hamster or puppy, or the kitten who needs something to play with besides shoelaces. And, um, fish.

You did remember to put the lid back on the fish tank, didn’t you? Hmmm, maybe you’d better go check.

Aquarium fish tanks are found all over the world, used to keep both aquatic plants and fish. Usually smaller fish tanks are used in homes as they tend to be simpler to keep clean and to stock etc.

The history of aquarium fish tanks goes back to the Romans who during the 1st century had small marble tanks to keep sea barbell. Eventually glass panes were introduced for the sides so assist in to study of the fish.

In 14th century China, it was quiet usual amongst wealthy Chinese families to have a porcelain pot with goldfish in it.

In 1853 London Zoo introduced the world’s first public aquarium, after this fish tanks became quite popular amongst people all around the world.

Most fish tanks comprise of a tank, filtration system and lighting. The glass panes can also be made from silicon and plastic. A fish tanks filtration system is important as it converts the ammonia in the water into nitrate; also phosphate and excess nitrogen content gets removed.

In cold water fish tanks and biOrb fish tanks lighting systems help to keep the fish and water plants healthy. As different species of fish have different needs, so the set up of the cold water fish tanks and biOrb fish tanks will differ depending on what fish you want to keep.

Fish tanks are often used by people to provide live moving decoration within the home. Some interior designers have used fish tanks to add beauty and tranquillity instead of using muted colours on the walls. Studies and surveys have shown that aquariums can have a healing affect for their owners, and also remember in comparison to cats and dogs fish tanks are a lot easier to take care of.

Many different types of aquariums exist ranging from fish bowls to larger tanks. Fish tanks can be set up for different types of fish and habitat according to the salinity of the water. There are freshwater fish tanks, saltwater, cold water and tropical fish tanks.

It is estimated that there are about 60 million people around the world who are fish lovers and aquarium owners.

An aquarium can be a great addition to your interior decorations. If you are looking to add a certain level of style and beauty to your home or office, having an aquarium can do just that. While deciding to choose an aquarium for your house you may have wondered which one to choose from. There are endless possibilities when setting up an aquarium in your own home. If you are installing aquarium for the first time, you need to know many tit bits of keeping fish healthy and in a comfortable environment.

For people who are new to domesticating fish, starting with a small tank with less number of fishes is a good idea. This will give them time to understand the needs and will train them in many aspects that need to be taken care of before installing a fish aquarium or constructing a fish pond. For starters, the tank will need a pond pump, lighting, hood to prevent the fish from jumping out, a filter to keep the water clean, water testing kit for PH water levels etc. And when switching to a larger aquarium or a fish pond you will require many aquarium accessories like aquarium pumps, pond filters and pump, pond liners, water fountains, garden fountains and many other pond and aquarium supplies.

Know lets talk about which one to choose-a freshwater aquarium or a saltwater one. Many people choose a freshwater aquarium over a saltwater aquarium without really looking into the benefits and drawbacks of both. In my opinion if you have a good budget to invest on your aquarium needs, then you should definitely look into a saltwater aquarium. While people tend to go the freshwater direction due to the fact that it is a much cheaper alternative, the beauty and variety that having a saltwater aquarium affords you is not easily surpassed.

Moreover in a saltwater aquarium, you have much more variety of tropical fish to choose from. Clownfish, Hawk Fish, Blue Tang and many more varieties can be bred in a saltwater aquarium. The tropical fish are bright, colorful and lively —all of the things that you need in an aquarium to help you feel better about your space and more alive. The fish that you can have in a saltwater aquarium are a great deal more exotic and beautiful than anything a freshwater aquarium could house.

Maintenance is yet another factor that should be considered while choosing a tropical aquarium for your house. If you don’t’ have time to indulge in aquarium maintenance, having a saltwater aquarium is a bad idea. There are people who tend to go the freshwater direction due to the fact that it is a much cheaper alternative and need less maintenance and cleaning. Whatever type you choose an aquarium definitely adds a touch of your personal character to a home or office environment.

[...]

Nurture your family with a home aquarium. Make aquariums part of your family experience.

In the past, aquariums and fish keeping were often thought of as a solitary hobby. However, fish keeping has evolved into a vibrant and social experience, often involving the entire family. Today’s fish hobbyists are comprised of diverse groups and backgrounds. According to the 2007- 2008 American Pet Products Manufacturers Association (APPMA) National Pet Owners Survey, 14.2 million US households own a fish tank. Get involved in this fantastic hobby and discover how aquariums can enrich your family.

Satisfying family interest

Arguably, the greatest benefits of aquariums are the ease at which they integrate into the family. Aquariums fit well into today’s modern lifestyle, providing unique benefits to all family members. The different stages of setting up and maintaining an aquarium appeals to individual interests family members may have. Perhaps there’s a “techie” in your family. The aquarium hobby embraces technology with the latest trends becoming quickly assimilated. From energy efficient LED fixtures, smart equipment with electronic components, to aquarium control systems that connect to your home computer, the advancements in aquarium equipment will keep your “techie” eagerly involved.

If home interior design and decorating is a passion, then the stylish new aquariums and furniture are sure to accommodate. The new aquariums are designed to complement and enhance your home environment. The creative options are limited only by your imagination. However remember, like many design features, scale plays an important role. If you have a large space, opt for a larger aquarium to maximize visual impact. With so many facets to the aquarium hobby, before you know it, every family member will be enthused to get involved with the family aquarium.

Quality family time and Education

Aquariums offer a fun, interactive platform for education. Even the simple act of purchasing a new fish is a great educational opportunity. Get children involved. Select and research the proper care requirement of new aquarium additions as a family. Spend time together discovering the natural habitats of exotic tropical fish and use this information to provide ideal living conditions. Take advantage of this research to recreate a miniature habitat that is visually striking and unique in your aquarium.

Fish keeping is also a great way to learn about ecology and environmental awareness. An aquarium is a complex living system that relies on numerous biological and chemical interactions. By learning the principles and biology behind aquarium care, seemingly boring tasks such as water changes or maintenance suddenly become imbued with significance. The information acquired through fish keeping is easily transferred and applies to the global environment. Therefore it is not difficult to acquire a keen grasp of environmental issues that concern us today simply by getting involved in the aquarium keeping hobby.

Expanding your social circle

Aquarium hobbyists are no longer isolated. Today’s hobbyists have access to vibrant and active communities full of like-minded people. From local and national fish clubs and societies to the ever-expanding online community, it is easier than ever to pursue a lively aquarium hobby. Share your passion and make new friends. Exchange information, maintenance tips, or even beautiful fish. Better yet, invite family members and new friends to your home. Relax and socialize around your showcase aquarium. The stress reducing quality of a gorgeous, well-maintained aquarium is an instant icebreaker that invites active conversation.

The aquarium hobby is a great way to build bonds and strengthen family ties. Setting up an aquarium as a family fosters a group sense of accomplishment. When you incorporate an aquarium as part of your family experience, you create lasting memories. Ultimately, the aquarium itself becomes a beautiful reminder of good times and family.

Question and Answer:

Q: Do aquarium fish make good pets?

A: While they may not be soft and cuddly, tropical aquarium fish make excellent pets. The appeal of fish keeping goes beyond conventional notions of owning a pet. It is an engaging hobby in which the entire family can participate and enjoy.

Aquarium and fish, they say, are the best additions to the household that can contribute to have a still and calm atmosphere. This consideration makes owning a fish a good judgment.

Sometimes however, it is better to get something more than a goldfish. Sometimes, it pays to get exotic fish as pets, better yet, make it exotic freshwater fish.

Exotic Freshwater Fish Pet

Exotic fish submit to the water creatures that aren’t found in the spot or country. These come from other countries of assorted locations, typically from Africa, Asia or South America. They can penetrate the vicinity moreover through lawful or banned means.

Freshwater on the other hand means that the exotic fish is not full from the brine or the sea. It is easier to swear a freshwater fish as saltwater is more demanding to reach and claim.

Here are some other things to think:

1. Legality There was legal matters to take memo of. Some fish aren’t allowable as pets because of their scenery or menace to humans.

They could belong with the carnivorous species and introducing them on waters will be a big threat. Even if they are reserved in the aquarium, they aren’t tolerable to be in detention or under the check of mundane citizens.

Some exotic fished, while not carnivorous, are also considered as threats to the water system. They could materially change the tally of the population. This isn’t good for the narrow environment.

2. Specific Needs Take reminder also of the necessities of the fish. They must be reserved in aquariums that are large enough to the kind. The water must be suitably cleaned and treated. They should also be fed evenly.

3. Commitment Owning an exotic freshwater fish also entails commitment. They have to be maintained and full treatment of. Even if they get too plentiful or fractious to supervise, they must be right treated.

It is actually criminal to start exotic fish into confined waters. Thus, it is best to ask for assistance from a local aquarium store or from authorities.

4. Pick a Specie There are hundreds of exotic freshwater fish to desire from. Pick one according to their flush or look. Take message also of other features like the exclusive home requirements and their feeding lifestyle. Be wary also of the age and advance factors. These should correctly costume the requests and capabilities of the household.

Conclusion

People have different reasons to own a pet fish, particularly the exotic freshwater print. The beauty mesmerized some. Some like the exotic reason. Many reasons can be had. Just be responsible owners for the security and allowance of the community.

I ran across the Fish Shop of an on-line pet supply store, and found some of the most beautiful, interesting and useful fish tanks, stands, supplies and accessories I’ve seen anywhere, including local fish stores—from high-quality algae scrapers to gorgeous acrylic and glass aquarium coffee tables. So now I want just…everything.

I found all sizes of aquariums and stylish, furniture-quality aquarium stands—from traditional cherry to ultramodern acrylic. I especially like the modern tank-and-stand sets that go perfectly together and look like a single unit. They are so sculptural. I like that look.

I also liked a sort of globe aquarium for a betta with a sculptured metal holder that shows off the betta as the jewel it is without obscuring the view. Beautiful and elegant, especially for a formal environment. I want one for my office.

But if anyone asks what I really, really want for Christmas, there’s this octagonal acrylic coffee-table aquarium with the round glass top. (Yes, I know experts recommend against coffee-table aquariums, but I love it!)

Saltwater fish tanks have their own unique qualities and demands. But, for the reef aquarium lover, it’s well worth the effort.

You’ll get many hours of enjoyment without hassle if you get your salt water fish tank setup correctly. If you miss a few steps, you’re sure to have problems. They may not show up right way, but your fish will suffer in the long run. So please, be patient and follow all the steps in order.

Before You Begin

Do your research before starting your salt water fish tank setup. If you haven’t yet purchased your system, you find many choices available. Don’t hesitate to research and ask questions as you’re making your choices. Each set requires different parts and equipment, but most specialized aquarium stores are more than happy to help you get started.

What basic equipment do you need? You’ll need filters, pumps, heaters, lights, test kits, and sea salt mixtures, and substrate material (maybe something like coral). There’s other optional equipment, but these are the basics.

Once you’ve chosen your system, you’re ready to begin the setup. First you’ll need to clean and level the tank. Then you can begin to arrange your background making sure to leave room for the necessary system pieces that must go into the tank.
