All You Need for Aquarium Bliss?

Maybe your idea of aquarium bliss is a large saltwater setup. Or maybe you just want a little freshwater tank for the kids—or for your desk at the office. Whatever you are looking for, there’s a site that probably offers that—plus half a dozen things you never thought of. All at great prices.

There are pages and pages of fish tanks, aquarium kits, testing supplies, tank stands, fish food, and accessories. Plus there are pages of things for cats, more pages for dogs, rabbits, horses, and any pet you can think of. At Beyond.com here are even hamster cages for cheap.

Of course, they also list a huge variety of items in other categories, such as home furnishings, gifts, clothing, appliances, games, and tools. Whatever you are looking for, the selection is huge, and there are lots of vendors to choose from.

I think the complete aquarium kits are a great way to get started. Just order one, have it delivered, and follow instructions. You know the filters and accessories will fit the tank. There is no need to rush around town trying to put together a reasonable setup, and you know beforehand what it all will cost.

Some of the new aquarium styles are so gorgeous that you will be tempted to buy more than one. The complete kits make great gifts for kids, too. Shopping on line is a great way to find unusual items that you might not run across in local stores.

Meanwhile you could pick up items needed for other pets in the family, like that new hamster or puppy, or the kitten who needs something to play with besides shoelaces. And, um, fish.

You did remember to put the lid back on the fish tank, didn’t you? Hmmm, maybe you’d better go check.



What I Want for Christmas…

I ran across the Fish Shop of an on-line pet supply store, and found some of the most beautiful, interesting and useful fish tanks, stands, supplies and accessories I’ve seen anywhere, including local fish stores—from high-quality algae scrapers to gorgeous acrylic and glass aquarium coffee tables. So now I want just…everything.

I found all sizes of aquariums and stylish, furniture-quality aquarium stands—from traditional cherry to ultramodern acrylic. I especially like the modern tank-and-stand sets that go perfectly together and look like a single unit. They are so sculptural. I like that look.

I also liked a sort of globe aquarium for a betta with a sculptured metal holder that shows off the betta as the jewel it is without obscuring the view. Beautiful and elegant, especially for a formal environment. I want one for my office.

But if anyone asks what I really, really want for Christmas, there’s this octagonal acrylic coffee-table aquarium with the round glass top. (Yes, I know experts recommend against coffee-table aquariums, but I love it!)

There are a number of saltwater tank supplies and equipment you will need to have a healthy environment for your saltwater fish. Being familiar and knowing each element is crucial, but it does not have to be overwhelming.

You will find that when most of the saltwater tank supplies are set up you will not need to maintenance them too much.  Most of your maintenance will be in cleaning and water testing.

Fish make wonderful pets that are interesting and quite easy to maintain. Although they need regular attention like any other pet, like feeding and cleaning, they don’t demand the personal attention of their owners. Before you go out and buy fish tanks you should learn a few things about how to take care of the fish.

Use technology

If you don’t have time to keep your tank clean there are ways to makes the task easy or less frequent. All you need to do is get a few filters, aeration pumps, etc. They will keep your fish tanks cleaner for a long time by getting out all the debris.

You will still need to clean it once in a while but not as often as otherwise. Cleaning a tank is not very difficult but will take about half an hour to one hour as you will need to be thorough with the cleaning.

Owning tropical fish can be a fun and enjoyable hobby for anyone, especially those with children who want pets that they know aren’t going to growl or snap at the kids! They’re relatively easy to care for and don’t need to be walked, groomed, or scooped up after.

But as easy as they are to take care of there are some things you need to do in order to prepare tropical fish aquariums before you actually add any fish. Just buying one and filling it with water isn’t enough for your fish to be happy and healthy in any way. So what do you need to do to tropical fish aquariums for them to be ready for your new pets?

For one thing most tropical fish aquariums have been sitting around for some time or have been packed in boxes to get sent to your pet supply store. They’re usually pretty dusty or even dirty when you get them home.

If you have the right habitat set up in your aquarium to suit your tropical fish you can rest assured that your fish will be happy and live long and healthy – perhaps even breed and add to the beauty of your tank.

If you are in the mood to have some tropical fish as pets in your aquarium you must know how to set up their home for them. You must also know something about their eating habits as well as their breeding habits.

Tropical fish need a fairly large tank like 3 cubic feet or more. The tank must have clean and fresh water along with the equipment to keep the water that way.
