Finding a Durable and Stylish Fish Tank Stand

If you own an aquarium, chances are that you really need a good fish tank stand. This is logical because the weight of a typical fish tank, which usually weighs at around 50 to 60 pounds, makes it vulnerable for breakage. So, a fish tank full of water is in dire need of an excellent fish tank stand. Well, aside from its function, a fish tank also adds aesthetic qualities to your aquarium and your room as a whole.

However, there are some considerations in acquiring a fish tank stand. The most important consideration, of course, is the structure and built of a fish tank stand.  This should be your chief reason in purchasing any type, brand and model of fish tank stand. You must also understand that most homemade fish tank stand is not enough to withstand the strain and the weight of an aquarium carrying gallons of liquid and sea creatures.

Health Care Aquarium Rental

Aquariums and fish tanks can be found in the waiting rooms of health care premises across the UK. There are numerous reasons for this such as the health benefits of aquariums and fish tanks. One important reason a number of health care premises have aquariums and fish tanks is that they have discovered Aqualease’s health care aquarium rental service.

Aqualease provide health care aquarium rental services that takes the hassle out of looking after aquarium fish and maintaining their surroundings. With an Aqualease health care aquarium rental all you have to do is remember to feed the fish!

The reason that aquarium rental is becoming more popular than buying a fish tank or aquarium is that a number of other services are included in the aquarium rental price.

These aquarium lease price include installation of the aquarium and introduction of the fish themselves. It is important that this is done correctly, as introducing fish to the wrong environment can result in having no fish. After the installation, each month one of Aqualease’s aquarium service experts will visit your premises to clean and maintain the aquarium as well as carry out any servicing that may be required. As well as all that, you will also be supplied with a month’s worth of fish food.

An Aqualease rental aquarium is perfect for any health care premises, especially in the waiting room as an aquarium or a fish tank makes waiting room times fly by. Not only that, but research has been conducted that shows that watching an aquarium will reduce stress levels in adults and reduce hyper activity in children, which in a waiting room environment is ideal.

It doesn’t matter how much space you have for an aquarium as Aqualease have a range of rental aquariums to choose from including column aquariums and cabinet aquariums, each with their own advantages.

Column aquariums are a great solution to small spaces, as they are upright aquariums they have more space vertically rather than horizontally. Although they take up a very small amount of space, they provide a large viewing area as they are very tall aquariums which can be placed neatly in the corner of a room, or right in the middle as an attention-grabbing centrepiece. The benefits of this is that all of your patients and visitors will be able to view the fish on display.

Cabinet aquariums can do great things for your waiting room decor. Like the column aquariums, they are great if space is limited as they have storage space built into them which is perfect for documents, waiting room reading material or anything you have that needs a neat place to stay.

If your waiting room or surgery could benefit from Aqualease’s health care aquarium service then give them a call, their aquarium experts will be able to advise the best aquarium service for your waiting room or surgery that your patients and visitors will love!

Cheap Fish Tanks In New York: How To Find Them

Are you a New York resident who is interested in adding a collection of fish to your home or your office? If so, have you already purchased an aquarium or at least decided which type of fish tank you would like to purchase? If you have yet to do so, you may want to start examining all of your options. After a close examination, you will see that you have an unlimited number of different fish tanks to choose from. Those fish tanks all come in different sizes, shapes, styles, and prices.

Whether you are purchasing a fish tank for your New York home or office, there is a good chance that cost is a concern of yours. That is why a relatively large number of individuals go shopping for a fish tank based on price, rather than the quality of a fish tank or its appearance. While it is possible to do this, you are advised against doing so. Shopping for a fish tank based solely on price may not get you exactly what you were looking for. In fact, what it may get you is a poor quality fish tank that needs to be replaced in a couple of years or even sooner. That is why it is important that you not only focus on the cost of a fish tank, but also the quality and overall style of one. Despite what you may believe, it is possible to find cheap fish tanks in New York; fish tanks that are cheap in price, but not in quality.

When it comes to finding cheap fish tanks in New York, namely one that appeals to you, you are advised to first examine your wants or your needs. For example, if you are looking for a fish tank to have installed in your office, are you limited on space? If so, it may be best to purchase a small desktop fish tank or a living picture aquarium. These types of aquariums are ideal for those who are limited on the amount of space that they have inside their office or even their home. Knowing the location and space available, as well as your budget, will assist you in determining whether you can use a standard aquarium or require a custom aquarium. As a general rule, standard fish tanks will be cheaper than a custom designed aquarium.

As previously mentioned, you are advised to keep the overall quality of a fish tank in mind, when purchasing one. This can be done two different ways. The first way involves examining the particular type or types of fish tanks that you would be interested in purchasing. For example, if you are planning on purchasing a cylinder style aquarium from a particular fish tank manufacturer, you will want to search for product reviews. These reviews can easily be obtained online, often with a simple internet search. When searching for product ratings or customer feedback, you are advised to perform a standard internet search with the name of the fish tank in question. If that fish tank has been purchased and rated by previous customers, there is a good chance that your internet search will show you those results.

Another way that you go about making sure you are purchasing a cheap, but quality fish tank for your home or office involves determining exactly who you are doing business with. It is no secret that most well-known, established, and reputable product manufacturers, including fish tank manufacturers, are more likely to produce quality products. That is why who you choose to business with may have just as much of an impact on your purchase as the fish tank that you end up choosing. As with product reviews, you should be able to research a particular fish tank supplier or manufacturer by performing a standard internet search. While this search will only take a few minutes, an hour at the most, it may help to ensure that you are doing business with a reputable company such as Tenecor.

As you can see, it is possible to purchase cheap fish tanks in New York; however, it is important to remember that you have a number of important factors to consider when making your purchase. In all honesty, it really doesn’t matter whether you are looking to find cheap fish tanks in New York, California, Florida, or any other area of the world for that matter.

People always love our acrylic aquariums. And we couldn’t be happier with our Tenecor Bow Front Aquarium we purchased last year. If you are looking for the ultimate in acrylic fish tanks plesae visit Tenecor today.

Aquarium Freshwater Fish – Select the Right Fish From the Start

So you have set up your aquarium. Or you’re ready to set up your tank, and you need a whole host of swimming, happy aquarium freshwater fish to fill it, right? Well, slow down and decide exactly what sort of fish you want in there.

Maybe you want some that are extremely active, so they’re always moving and entertaining you. Or maybe your interest lies with brightly coloured species. Or maybe you want something else entirely. However you look at it you’re going to fish for a fish tank.

Choosing the type of fish that you want can take some time, especially if you plan on having several breeds together. You risk fish loss if you don’t do some research before buying anything!

Do Some Research

Usually the staff at your local fish store are enthusiasts and they are only too pleased to answer any questions that you have regarding information about your future fish stock.

Here are a few questions that you should ask:

Does this fish like open areas, or plenty of plants?
What pH does this fish prefer?
Is this fish aggressive?
What are this fish’s feeding requirements?
Does this fish prefer to eat from the top or bottom of the tank?
Will this fish need much space now or in the future?
What does this fish prefer as far as temperature is concerned?

If you want a community tank then you should try to match these as closely as possible. Your tank is going to have a much better future if you get this as close as possible.

While we could give you the breeds of fish, you’re just going to get confused – and you won’t really be able to fall in love with the fish this way. This is why we’re recommending a different option. Head for your local fish supplier and see what they have. You may as well go to them all in your area! Talk to the resident expert and write down the names of the fish you like and their requirements.

Take it all home and see which species match the best, then cross reference the information the staff gave you to information on that species. This is the most effective method for finding the right species of fish for you.

They All Need Food

There’s one thing that some people just don’t consider when purchasing multiple fish, and this is food needs. Fish eat at different levels – some at the surface, others at the bottom.

Mixing these are just fine, but try to avoid aggressive top feeders – pellets that go to the bottom might not get to the bottom feeders!
Try to choose fish with similar dietary needs, and a group that doesn’t steal together will live happily together, and happy fish tend to live longer and be brighter. You also need to make sure that your fish aren’t going to become their neighbours next meal. There is a risk, this is completely serious.

Other serious risks include aggressive fish biting other, smaller fish who simply can’t fend for themselves. Almost always a target ore fish with long flowing fins. You should match levels of aggression this usually produces a good match. Bullies know when to back off, so serious issues are mostly avoided.

Aggression Issues

Many fish – especially males – are going to be aggressive in general, so you really do need to try and avoid pairing more then one male in the tank, with the exception of less aggressive species. Even fish with similar colors can sometimes set it off, so be careful who you pair with whom. Two or three females to each male usually works best but there are always exceptions.

The Worst Thing You Can Do

You should never never ever just take pot luck when stocking your community tank. This is unfortunately a thing that many aquarists do. So don’t just chance it, do some research and you will end up with with a wonderful collection of bright, happy fish for a long time.

The Best Aquarium Freshwater Fish for Beginners

Maintaining an aquarium can be a very rewarding and fun activity.  One of the great things about the hobby is that with preparation and patience, anyone can have a beautiful fish tank.

There are countless varieties of aquarium freshwater fish, and this can be both a good thing and a bad thing.  I say bad because there are some fish that either require special care or they are more temperamental.  These fish are more demanding and therefore are not the best fish for the beginner’s first aquarium.  Sometimes it is not easy for the beginner who is picking out fish to know the good (easy) from the bad (temperamental) which can lead to frustration and wasted money on new fish.

With that in mind, here is a quick starter list of fish that are ideally suited for the novice.  They are beautiful, active, and most importantly, hardy fish.  That’s not to say buying these fish is an excuse for lax care and maintenance, it just means that minor fluctuations in temperature or pH won’t cause them to be lost.

Guppies – These fish are hardy, inexpensive, and come in many beautiful varieties.  The males have long, flowing, multi-colored fins and they are generally quite active in the upper and middle water levels in the tank.  As a bonus, they may be one of the easiest fish to breed, so you may end up witnessing the wonder of live-bearing fish without any effort on your part.
Plecostomus – Commonly just called the pleco, there are actually a number of pleco species that are available to the aquarium keeper.  Most are very hardy fish and belong to the group of “algae eaters”.  They will indeed eat algae in your tank, but they do need to be fed over and above that.  The pleco will occupy the lower level of your tank and with his less than beautiful looks (OK, they’re ugly), he will definitely add a bit of personality to your tank.
Gouramis – Including the Dwarf, Blue, and Kissing Gourami.  These fish add a nice element of size (they are not huge, but a blue could grow to 4+ inches) and color to any community tank.  Most people that are interested in aquariums are familiar with the Kissing Gourami and a pair  will make a great addition to most any tank.
Swordtails – With their deep orange color and the male’s namesake sword-shaped tail, these fish mix in well with a community tank.
Cory Cats – Short for Corydoras, this is another group of fish with many varieties.  They are fine as a single, but as a group they will school together exploring and scouring the bottom of the tank, and they are a fun fish to have patrolling your aquarium.
Danios – This is another fish with many varieties.  I include them because they are good, hardy fish that are extremely active and never seem to tire out.  The zebra, leopard, and giant danios are all popular fish and will add a lot of activity to your tank, although some people find their constant activity level almost a bit too much, so keep that in mind.
Goldfish – Talk about endless variety!  Goldfish have it and more.  Colors, fins, size, eyes, scales…there are enough to write many books on them.  As such, they are a popular choice for a species tank, which is an aquarium with only different types of goldfish.  They are very tolerant of a wide range of temperatures but that doesn’t mean they will tolerate bad water.  They do produce a lot of waste and may require a bit more water changing than some other fish, but they still make a great choice for someone who is just getting into the fish keeping hobby.

This list is only a small sample of fish that are well suited for the beginner, but it covers a good cross-section.  There is variety in color, size, activity level, and water column level (from surface to bottom).  It is certainly a good start and hopefully it will lead you toward many other wonderful fish for your new aquarium!
