You did remember to put the lid back on the fish tank, didn’t you? Hmmm, maybe you’d better go check.

It doesn’t matter how much space you have for an aquarium as Aqualease have a range of rental aquariums to choose from including column aquariums and cabinet aquariums, each with their own advantages.

Column aquariums are a great solution to small spaces, as they are upright aquariums they have more space vertically rather than horizontally. The benefits of this is that all of your patients and visitors will be able to view the fish on display.

Cabinet aquariums can do great things for your waiting room decor. Like the column aquariums, they are great if space is limited as they have storage space built into them which is perfect for documents, waiting room reading material or anything you have that needs a neat place to stay.

Your Questions About Fish Tank Rental

Jenny asks…

Floor strong enough for a large fish tank?

I bought a 4 unit rental house a few years ago. I live in one of the units on the second floor.
I would like to get a 55 or a 75 gallon fish tank but I am concerned wether the floor can support this much weight in such a small area.
I need expert advise. Here is what I know; The house was built in 1927. The floor joists for the first floor are rough cut. They are 9 1/2 X 1 1/2 with 16″ centers. I think the second floor joists are the same but I am not sure because I had limited access through the floor registar.

Fish tanks are rated at 10 lbs per gallon, even though water is 8 lbs per gallon. The extra 2 lbs is because of the gravel and stuff. The floor would need to support 550 or 750 lbs in an area about 4′ X 2′. How much safety margin do I have?

I would prefer advice from somebody with real knowledge, not guesses!

Thank you.

Aquarium Lover answers:

If you place the tank closer to load bearing walls and with the length of the tank you should have no problems. You also check with building inspectors (calling and ask). Have been working with wood for years and have placed hot tubs and have not any problems

Betty asks…

How can I hang a fish tank light from the roof without damaging the roof?

I have just setup an aquarium and I have a light that I need above it. I do not have a hood on the tank, so I can not attach it to that. It is currently sitting on the glass which I don’t like the idea of. We are currently in a rental house so I don’t want to put screw in hooks in the roof and it seems the 3M hooks don’t work very well horizontally. Any ideas would be awesome :)

Aquarium Lover answers:

Why would a fish tank be on your roof? Oh…..you mean the ceiling? You cant but you can make a stand for it if you cant put it on your tank. Donot try any sticky thing because if they let go, it will make your fishes hair stick up all funny!

Linda asks…

how much extra did you pay to have a cat in your rental space?

I found the perfect apartment building and my application was approved by the landlord only…they want an extra security deposit for having a cat which is totally cool, I knew they would and I have no problem paying it except it seems like so much they want $200 for a female cat and $400 for a male cat my male cat is fixed and has never sprayed (neutered while still young) but I still have to pay the $400…
I also have two hamsters and a fish tank…I was hoping to get more fish tanks, maybe a few hermit crabs, and I’ve been wanting to get a second cat (female)
the land lord does know that I want a second cat and says that’s fine as long as I pay the security deposit, however he doesn’t know yet about my cage and tank pets…will he probably charge me for these? Will he even let me have them?is $400 for a male cat reasonable?
btw: it’s a studio apartment, and the rent is $450 a month-they pay heat, gas, and electric for me
I haven’t signed a lease yet, and I need to know all this1

Aquarium Lover answers:

It varies all over the place. Only you are able to decide what is reasonable to you. It all depends on how much you want the place in question, and how much you are willing to pay to have your pet with you.

I recently moved and was determined to find an affordable place where I could keep my cat. It was not an easy chore! I was amazed at how many places wouldn’t even allow a cat, and at the large deposits some of the others wanted.

A landlord can charge whatever they want for animal deposits, and in some ways I don’t blame them. I’ve seen what people have done in some cases, with pets, and allowing them to destroy property, carpets, etc. The irresponsible pet owners make it bad for the rest of us.

Is The Hexagon Fish Tank Fish Friendly?

In this day and age fish tanks come in all shapes and sizes and you can get them made from a number of different materials. When purchasing a fish tank you need to decide on a number of factors. How do you want your aquarium to look? How big is your home? What kinds of fish do you want to keep etc. When you decide to buy a fish tank for yourself, you start with an idea of how your aquarium should look. Most people think an aquarium should be oblong while others prefer something a bit different. These unusual shaped aquariums such as the hexagon fish tank look amazing in your home but they are not designed for fish.

The Hexagon Fish Tank Actually Harms the Fish And Is Just a Decorative Piece

Unfortunately for the fish the hexagon fish tank is not kind to fish as it makes them feel disoriented as they need to swim round and round and not backwards and forwards as in an oblong tank. Humans are always trying to find things that look unusual and unique to impress our friends and neighbors and the hexagon fish tank certainly does this. It looks stunning and is a very decorative piece of furniture. People love the hexagon fish tank because it looks different to anything else. While the hexagon fish tank is not kind to the fish the shape is attractive and at the same it could be placed in many different spots in your home.

The space in a hexagon fish tank allows for swimming is so much less than a rectangular tank of similar size. The fish do not feel happy about being restricted in a hexagon fish tank because the shape does now allow them the freedom they want. The kindest thing you could do would be to buy mechanical fish and have an array of colorful plants and ornaments. This way your hexagon fish tank would still look stunning and you would not be making any fish dizzy.

One other alternative would be to have very small fish. These small fish would have more room to swim around compared to bigger fish who would just become ill. The hexagon fish tank would allow the very small fish a bit more freedom; however for big fish the hexagon fish tank will make them ill. They would be far happier in a large oblong tank.

Another factor to consider is the one of children. If you have children you will need to decide if you should have your hexagon fish tank made from glass or metal. Where children are concerned acrylic aquariums are far better as they are safer and they keep the water temperature stable for longer periods of time thus requiring less looking after. Whether or not you choose an oblong or hexagon fish tank you need to be careful as not to scratch it as acrylic marks easier than glass. If you are still undecided whether or not to have a normal or hexagon shaped fish tank I think the first question you should ask yourself is that of which fish would I like in my tank? If you do not mind a few small fish or mechanical ones then buy a hexagon fish tank. However if you feel that you want something more then I feel a standard oblong tank would be best.

Buying Your First Freshwater Fish Tank

When you bring home that very first freshwater fish tank I know you are eager to get it up and going. You may be tempted to fill it full of water and add a few fish the first day you get your tank. It would be wise to take a step back and think about a few things before you buy your aquarium.

You need to make some decisions such as how big a tank do I need, and what type of material should it be made of. Decide before you go shopping what type of accessories you will need. The biggest choice for many is to pick out the right type of fish. Get this wrong and nothing else will matter.

This article will look at some of the most important things you need to decide before going out to the pet store to do your shopping.

The most important choice you need to make is how big of a tank do you need. You need to ask yourself how big of a space do I have to put my new aquarium. Also decide on the size fish you intend to keep. Everyone loves those huge fish tanks that the pet stores always seem to have out on the floor but are they the best choice for you. If you are just getting started a small tank may be a much better option as they cost a lot less.

Next you need to decide how much you want to spend. You can get tanks made of glass or acrylic. The acrylic tanks tend to cost more. Either type will do the job so let your budget help you decide what to buy.

The tank is just the first step, as you will need to add all kinds of accessories such as a heater and decorations. You will need gravel and a filter also. These items can add to the cost pretty quick so do your research and know just what you need before you go shopping.

The type of fish you choose will decide everything we have talked about so far. This is the most important decision you have to make. If you decide to keep a pair of Oscars you will need a very big aquarium. On the other hand a few small community fish can get by just fine in a small fish tank.

Do the proper research before hand and you will do fine with that new freshwater aquarium. Enjoy the hobby of fish keeping

Aquarium fish tanks- adding beauty to any space

It can be great fun to have aquarium fish tanks but you need to do a careful research before setting up the best of fish tank at your place. Before you buy any fish, you have to cycle the aquarium in a proper way in order to make certain that there are enough bacteria to work with waste products of the fish.

Aquarium fish tanks can be easily purchased in acrylic or glass materials. Traditionally, the aquariums were of glass but in past few years, the advancement in plastic technology has paved a new way to use acrylic tanks. Although the glass fish tanks are cheaper, they are much heavy in weight and are even prone to occasional spring leaks. On the other hand, the acrylic tanks are a bit expensive but they rarely leak and are available in a variety of designs and shapes.

Also, as glass is harder and tough to scratch, these scratches become permanent. Acrylic tanks are indeed easy to maintain and repair in case they are scratched. The best part about acrylic tanks is that various kinds of acrylic polish kits are there in the market which can be easily used to remove all the scratches from the tank body and make the aquarium tank fresh and new.

The aquarium acrylic tanks are available in different shapes like hexagon, round, cylinder, rectangular and octagon. There are even coffee table and wall tanks in acrylic material.  Glass is in fact strong and sturdy in compression but as it is so hard, it becomes brittle. Acrylic is much softer and thus can be easily twisted without any breaking problem. This then makes the acrylic aquarium fish tanks less prone to breaks and cracks. The most interesting part about these fish tanks is that the user can easily drill holes in these tanks and that too without sacrificing on the strength.

When buying the aquarium fish tanks, it is important to inspect these tanks to ensure that the fish you opt to buy are healthy. Research the plant life and check what type of water quality and temperature is required to be set. The tropic fish generally require higher temperature than the goldfish. Indeed, some fish are comparatively peaceful when they are young but become bullies when fully developed. Tiger barbs serve as a great example to such fish types.

Moreover, it is better to avoid overcrowding in your tank. You will require a bigger tank for the larger fish. It has been observed that various aquarium holders are cruel and harsh to the fish as they overload the tanks with as many fish and plants they can buy thereby neglecting any thought to oxygen requirements by each and every fish. So before you buy the aquarium, consider the total number of fish you wish to have and then ensure that the size of the tank is sufficient enough to accommodate all of them.

In all, aquarium fish tanks are now gaining high popularity. The affordable cost as well as the amount of benefits that these tanks offer to the users makes them a perfect option to have the best of aquatic life in your home.
