Fish…………?
Do you think they should split the fish catagory into
saltwater and freshwater and then other stuff?
Would make sense to me but i dunno
Where can you make suggestions? lol
But for the people that regularly answer these questions it would be so much easier. I mean, i dont know anything about marine aquariums and stuff.
It might also help to discourage people that answer the questions without having any idea what they are talking about

No… Maybe you’ve noticed, but there aren’t a whole lot of questions in here… Splitting it into two categories means two things: you will have two very slow moving boards instead of one relatively sluggish board, and it would be a total pain for the people that have (and answer) in both saltwater and freshwater tanks…
I think it would be better if it was called aquariums or aquatic pets, so it would encompass plants, corals, inverts, maintenance, ponds, and equipment, as well as preventing questions about fishing, cooking/eating fish, and others like that…

EDIT: It is much easier to skip over a saltwater question than it is to switch back and forth between two categories though… I don’t think we need to prevent unknowledgeable posters at the expense of the knowledgeable ones either… If somebody says something wrong, either email them, or post that you disagree…
LOL, Emily, actually, you wouldn’t… That’s a statement, not a question… :~) I know, lots of people do it, and it gets really annoying…

David asks…
fish??????
what type of fish is good for kids…we have a five gallon aquriam?

Aquarium Lover answers:
NOT GOLDFISH
They are extremely messy pooping machines. Most goldfish need at least 29 gallons to be healthy anyway.
For a 5 gallon, one Betta by itself would do pretty well.
5-6 White Cloud Minnows. White Clouds are extremely easy to care for.
“White Cloud Mountain minnows are considered good fish for beginners, as they are extremely forgiving with regard to aquarium temperature or water quality, and make an ideal “starter fish” for cycling a new aquarium. They are schooling fish, and feel most comfortable in a shoal of at least five minnows. An individual one of these minnows kept alone may become timid and lose its bright color. Generally, White Cloud Mountain Minnows are peaceful and happy to coexist with other fish, as long as they are not put in a tank with larger fish that may eat them. The minnows are usually top or middle-level swimmers and rarely swim close to the bottom of a tank.
While normal temperature range of the species in the wild is 18–26 °C (64–72 °F), it can survive water temperatures down to 5°C (41°F); this makes it an ideal fish for keeping in an unheated aquarium in cold climates.”

Lizzie asks…
FISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I am thinking of buying a couple of fish, and I need different names so I can look them up online and see if they are cool enough for me. I want a red fish, a blue fish with black stripes.
The fish must be freshwater, not need alot of care (Like a goldfish) and not be expensive*
*They can’t be something that will die easily or something that is aggressive and eats other fish.

Probably only cichlids have those colors. And goldfish require a lot of care. They poop a lot. Also no one ever sees how big a goldfish gets. We can only help you well if you tell us your tank size.
